Your Concierge and Agent

Welcome to Danube sporting! A new and refreshed sporting agency. I offer bespoke hunting experiences in Hungary where memorable and high quality services are my goal. To qualify these offers I’ll give you a little background and explain how what I offer differs from the other outfitters. Firstly, although born in London I am of Hungarian descent and have spent an amount of my life in Hungary since childhood. This has given me a great insight into the language and customs of this beautiful country. To go with that, I’ve also spent a lot of time shooting there which has taken me to some fantastic sites and into contact with some some wonderful people.

So, what am I offering? Firstly I’m sure that you have all heard tales of woe from others who have travelled abroad for the trip of a lifetime and have been let down by no shows, poor  facilities, indifferent hosts and a general feeling that you’ve been had over! Here’s the difference, I will generally be present from start to finish, ensuring that there is no language barrier, misunderstandings or hidden costs to sour your trip. Obviously these are hunting opportunities not shopping trips but, I can assure you that all of our teams will work their hardest to ensure that everybody goes home happy.

All of my sites are somewhere that I have explored myself and in some cases can offer world class trophies. Costs are shown up front from start to finish. I have access to some estate guns, albeit in limited numbers in the case of driven shoots where we might put out 25 guns, removing the hassle of travelling with firearms. All necessary permits are obtained in advance and accommodation booked. I also have taxidermists on board to give you more than a photo to look back on. I am available anytime to discuss any aspects of what you see above.

Well, what’s on offer and where?

A new concept I’d like to introduce is “City centre hunting”

I have a site around the beautiful and historic town of Eger that offers first class accommodation and a 10-15 minute ride to your high seat or walk out. This is the sort of trip where if you wanted, could bring your wife, girlfriend or family and where you and they could spend some quality time in the hours between your morning and evening programs. Elsewhere in this site you can view some recommended Hotels and experiences. Click on the Eger page to view these. The town is just over an hour transfer from Budapest airport and has lots to see and do. This is best suited to low numbers of guns but can include anyone else as I have said.

How it all works

So, you’re asking yourself, why choose Danube sporting above any other outfitter?

What we offer is a bespoke experience rather than the usual concept of pay a deposit and see what happens. I will design your trip from the planning stages ie, where we need to go to, when we need to go and what to expect when we get there. I will in 99% of cases, collect you from the airport and get you to your accommodation. The longest transfer at the moment is just under 2 hours. Depending on the centre chosen for your trip you will be fully aware of what to expect regarding this when you arrive. I will have consulted with you and our team of gamekeepers what quarry you are looking for and how we can achieve a successful outcome. Wether you are just looking for something representative or the trophy of a lifetime we will make a plan but, as this is hunting and not shopping there will always be a plan ‘B’ to fall back on and we will always try to plan enough time in country to give the best chances of success. We will be in a foreign country with its own language and customs but again, I will be on hand so that nothing is lost in translation. We can talk about food and drink in advance so that you don’t get a culinary adventure where you didn’t want or expect one.

Things to do and see between hunts

Hunting licences will be obtained well in advance and as mentioned elsewhere, estate guns are available at some sites if you do not want the hassle of travelling with firearms.

Days will begin with meeting your gamekeeper/guide for the day where we will between us, ensure that you know where you are going and what to expect. Hunts generally take place early morning and early evening, just like anywhere else in the world so, the morning may only be a cup of coffee before you go out and breakfast when you return. Lunches tend to be taken at leisure during the day and evenings much like the mornings, a dinner on your return.

There may be some ceremony at the end of a successful hunt which is the norm for Europe which, I feel only adds to the whole experience.

We have access to some excellent taxidermists locally and they can if you wish, present you with something to admire forever.

If you feel that there are any grey areas here please contact me to discuss any aspects of what is on offer.

I love what I get to do in Hungary and I’m sure that you will too!
